Major Patch Update 5/25
Hey everyone! Thank you all for joining our Chroma Chronicles Beta. our main focus over the last month has been game stability. Additionally, we’ve brought on another developer to help knock out some of these pesky bugs y’all have been helping us find. Here’s a list of changes you’ll find in the latest update.
New Features
Added an option to mute opponent’s emotes.
Added a new life display during the match. This allows a spectator to quickly see what the match score is when they pop into a stream.
Small Changes/Improvements.
Changed several instances of warrior/thief/mage to klay/jade/luna. We want our characters to be themselves and not refer to them by their class names.
Reload now has a confirmation popup
Card Balance and changes
Punching Bag
Changed to once per turn.
Power-level wise, this card isn’t in a bad place. The turns that you get a triple hit of one color feel like they lead to an awful game state for the opponent though. We want to lower the ceiling of this card, and keep it in line with a lot of the other once per turn equipment.
Apprentice of Light
Illuminate: 1/1/2/3 -> 1/2/3/4
This card hasn’t seen a ton of use, and it felt a little lackluster even at higher tiers. The illuminate effect should feel impactful when you hit with a silver or a gold card so we are increasing the number of cards revealed.
Small Smithy
Changed so that the order you equip these does not matter. It will always use the weakest small smithy possible first to upgrade the card hit.
Flash Powder
Quick: 1/1/1/1 -> 1/1/2/3
This card was one of our least impressive 3 stars. Were buffing it at gold and diamond. It also felt a little weird that it was out quicked by borrowed brush and hunting knife. We want Jade’s 3 star green card to feel powerful.
Summon: Snowman
Gold nerfed from 11 damage, frostbite ALL -> 20 damage, frostbite 2.
This card was too powerful and impactful at gold. It should still stand out as a meaningful upgrade to avalanche because it gains the second frostbite at silver. Although the upgrade to gold on this card won’t be as impactful as it was, we still expect this card to be a powerful option for luna.
Bug Fixes
Fixed several issues causing crashes in journeys.
Fixed several tutorial bugs.
Fixed a bug where luna relics that were being activated due to refresh setting their cooldown to 0 were not displaying.
Time bank overlay should no longer get stuck on the screen
Fixed emotes crashing matches against AI
AI opponents now use abilities on cards that require you to select a target.
Fixed an issue where diamond tornado and diamond dust bunny were not properly proccing relics multiple times.
Fixed a bug where inflame damage was not being displayed
Ethereal battle bugle is now discarded when it hits so you do not get the reinforcements.
Red damage bar for relics properly lasts the whole turn
Fixed a bug where bronze lava darts was dealing less damage than intended.
Minor Patch Update 4/22
Today’s changes are focused on strengthening some gold and diamond equipment. Our goal is to make some of the less used equipment more valuable when upgraded. Currently, when spending a lot of resources to upgrade a piece of equipment, it is very vulnerable to a trusty toolkit or scrappy screwdriver. We are giving many equipments a small power bump at gold and diamond to help make up for that vulnerability.
Traps
Improvised Weaponry
Condition: Hit with an ethereal card or a card in a quick slot.
Damage: 8/12/20/36 -> 8/12/20/38
Cut: 4/6/10/18 -> 3/5/9/18
This trap was a little bit too strong and it played too well into frostbite in a way that was not intuitive. Its previous design led to cards like avalanche and snowman feeling specifically bad against this card. By changing the trigger only work with quick slots rather than frostbitten slots, this should open up room for these cards to be used to fight Jade’s plethora of card advantage.
Nature’s Wrath
Cut: 2/3/5/9 -> 3/4/7/12
Heal: 9/14/23/42 -> 8/13/23/44
This card was a little bit weak. By reducing the power of improvised weaponry, and buffing this card, we expect Jade to be around a similar power level overall, but make the traps closer in power level.

Minor Patch Update
Changes to Borrowed Brush, Paintbrush, Lava Darts, Big Bolas, and The Finisher + Bug Fixes
Card Changes:
Fixed the messaging around Lava Dart, Big Bolas, and The Finisher to make it clear that they do not count themselves in their effects
Borrowed Brush and Paintbrush have been nerfed
- They now create copies based on their tier (Ex: a bronze borrowed brush can only make bronze ethereal copies)
- This was a much needed to change to prevent bronze brush cards from being powerful in later matches

Improved reconnection after disconnections
Fixed the alpha mage skin reverting to normal mage during relic triggers.
Thief Equipment tutorial now shows the correct card
